Hello! Here's The Film Club for YOU from me!

A perchance college film class in 1991 has steadily created momentum in my interest, curiosity and enthusiasm for film.  Many years ago as a new mom, it was becoming challenging to keep up with the timelines of book clubs, and invitations from friends that were designed purely to sell things to friends. They weren't the gathering of friends that I was looking for.   After stepping away from my long-time career as a teacher, I found that my love of film was the natural choices as my next chapter. 

I started a Film Club with just a few friends, meeting once per month at home or at a local restaurant.  We often got together separately, but this was a chance for us to get together as a group! We all looked forward to Film Club!  

Part of the enthusiasm for Film Club? We simply found it easier to find 2 hours to watch a movie over the course of the month than read a book club selection cover to cover (which was sometimes separate from the book we were reading on our own!)   Modest film notes became more detailed; we learned so much- about the film, about watching film in general and most importantly about one another. My favorite part of Film Club, as new members have joined, is just how fascinating it is to hear the voices and perspectives of my friends as we discuss each film. Our Film Club has amazing conversations, punctuated by creativity, debate, curiosity surprises, strong opinions, shared viewpoints, but always with candor and always with good humor.

A friend suggested I start a Film Club online, as she shared details about our club, and peeked at the Film Notes.  They immediately asked to join meetings "virtually" .... So  with the encouragement of my friends, and from modest beginnings, The Film Club For YOU is here and ready to bring YOU what was so exciting for all of us- time for friends to get together to talk about film, art, culture, books, ideas... the conversations are endless and I promise, you will be looking forward to your next Film Club!
